Mother/Grandmother Wound Trauma

Updated: Feb 20, 2023

Did you know that some ancestral trauma can be connected to our Grandmother and Mothers womb?

We can inherit trauma while we are in our Mothers womb during pregnancy. Not only can we feel love from our mother during that time, we can also feel all the emotions she feels while she is carrying us in her womb.

This is a very formative time, and it doesn't matter if you remember it or not! Your body and mind does. The experience in your mothers womb shapes your DNA and it also shapes your emotional state and mental health.

If you feel its time to heal your ancestral patterns and wounds that seem to keep showing up throughout your life. Then its time you heal the trauma that you acquired during the time you spent in your mothers womb.

There are many factors that played a role in the trauma you acquired while your mother was pregnant with you. If there was any type of abuse, stress or negativity happening to your mother or around her, then its most likely you felt it too from within the womb.

From what we know about the mind/body connection: what we feel negative or positive can affect our physical health.

So if negative emotions could cause health issues, then it would make sense that while a baby is being formed within their mother, if there is stress or trauma happening to the mother, who is a direct link to the baby. That emotional distress felt by the mother could cause mental and physical issues within the baby before the baby is even born.

The good news is, you can heal and stop the ancestral trauma!

I am in the process of healing my own ancestral trauma from my Grandmother and mother. As I heal I can feel the chains of my Grandmother and mothers own trauma lift from my mind and body. Causing my mind and body to shift into a new healthier vibration. Cutting the ancestral trauma cord.

Though there are many ways you can approach this type of healing, below is a ritual I put together to help heal my ancestral trauma. Not only have I done this for myself, I've also done this ritual with my own children who are 17 and 24. I wanted to help free them from my trauma I experienced while I was pregnant with both of them.

Disclaimer: This is not to replace any therapy you are in. I am an advocate for counseling and see my own therapist weekly to help with my own healing. Always use your intuition on what path your healing should take and what tools you should use along the way.

“All the eggs a woman will every carry form in her ovaries while she is a four-month-old fetus in the womb of her mother. This means our cellular life as an egg begins in the womb of our grandmother.

Each of us spent five months in our grandmother’s womb and she in turn formed within the womb of her grandmother.

We vibrate to the rhythms of our mother's blood before she herself is born, and this pulse is the thread of blood that runs all the way back through the grandmothers to the first mother.” —Layne Redmond

Mother/Grandmother Wound Healing Ritual

By Crystal Le Fay

Supplies:

  • Three small candles of 3 different colors representing your grandmother, Mother and yourself. (Or you can use 3 different photos representing your grandmother, mother and self.)

  • Healing incense (Crystal Le Fay Blend, email to order)

  • Fire proof container (Cauldron)

  • Markers if using photos

  • Lighter

  • Charcoal disc

  • A candle representing the Divine Spirit you wish to petition for assistance.

Setup: Begin by casting a circle. Set up your altar as you normally would, placing the god/goddess candle behind the individual candles. In this ritual, we will be using Divine Spirit, but you can substitute the name of the deity upon whom you are calling when you perform this rite. If you are using photos, write on the photos the first name of who the photo represents and write a few positive words representing the healing you'd like to take place.

Recite:

“I call upon you, Divine Spirit, in my time of need.

I ask your assistance and blessing, for this journey.

I ask you send light to my Grandmother, fill her body and heart with light and give her strength,

I ask you send light to my Mother, fill her body and heart with light and give her strength,

I ask you send light to myself, fill my body and heart with light and give me strength,

Keep us safe from darkness, protect our bodies, minds and souls.

I ask you, great Divine Spirit to heal any ancestral sickness, pain and trauma that has been passed down."

Place the loose incense blend on a charcoal disc in your fire proof container (Cauldron). As the smoke begins to rise, envision any ancestral sickness, pain and trauma wafting away with the smoke.

Recite:

“Divine Spirit, I ask you to take away that which did not belong to my Grandmother.

Divine Spirit, I ask you to take away that which did not belong to my Mother.

Divine Spirit, I ask you to take away that which did not belong to myself.

Carry it out to the four winds, never to return.

To the north, take this ancestral sickness, pain and trauma away and replace it with health.

To the east, take this ancestral sickness, pain and trauma away, and replace it with strength.

To the south, take this ancestral sickness, pain and trauma away, and replace it with vitality.

To the west, take this ancestral sickness, pain and trauma away, and replace it with life.

Carry it away from my Grandmother ____________, Mother_____________ and Myself_______________ (Use first names if you know them) Divine Spirit, that it may scatter and be no more.”

Light the candle representing the Divine Spirit.

Hail to you, powerful Divine Spirit, I pay you tribute.

I honor you and ask this one small gift.

May your light and strength wash over my Grandmother ____________, Mother_____________ and Myself_______________ (Use first names if you know them).

Use the flame on the Divine Spirit candle to light the smaller candles, representing your Grandmother, Mother and yourself. (Skip this step if you are using photos)

Instead:

If you are using photos, light each photo with the flame of the Divine candle after you have said the name associated with the photo, put into your fire safe container (Cauldron).

Grandmother ____________, Mother_____________ and Myself_______________ (Use first names if you know them). I light this candle (Photo) in your honor tonight.

It is lit from the fires of Divine Spirit, and they will watch over you.

Divine Spirit will guide you and heal you and ease your suffering.

May Divine Spirit continue to care for you and embrace you in their light."

Take a few moments to meditate, envisioning healing and ancestral sickness, pain and trauma dissipating from your Grandmother, Mother and yourself. Knowing you are now free and cleansed from the past line of sickness, pain and trauma, enabling you to have a new healthy body, mind and Spirit. You are free and born again!

Blow out candles while making a new birthday wish.

  • Feel free to make a special birthday cake to put birthday candles on.

  • You can also do this ritual on your favorite day and make it your yearly new Spiritual birthday to celebrate.

Return incense ashes back to Mother Earth.

Caution: Fire is hot and can burn, ALWAYS take caution and safety measures using candles and fire.
