What are Chakras?

Traditional practices recognize seven primary chakras, each associated with different aspects of our lives. "Chakra" comes from the ancient Sanskrit word meaning “wheel” or “circle,” highlighting the dynamic, ever-rotating nature of these energy centers.

Root Chakra (Muladhara): Sitting at the base of your spine, the root chakra, is our foundation of the energy system. When balanced, this chakra instills a strong sense of grounding and confidence, enabling us to face challenges with resilience.


Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana): Positioned just below the belly button, the sacral chakra is intimately connected to our creative energies and emotional experiences. It influences our ability to form relationships, express emotions, and embrace pleasure. This chakra plays a central role in our capacity for enjoyment and connection, serving as the source of our creativity, sensuality, and emotional fluidity. Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura): Found just above the belly button, this chakra radiates personal power and self-confidence. It governs our sense of self-worth, assertiveness, and decision-making abilities. The solar plexus chakra is a direct link to our motivations and personal identity; when balanced, we feel empowered to take action and achieve our goals. Heart Chakra (Anahata): Located in the center of the chest, the heart chakra embodies love, compassion, and forgiveness. It serves as the bridge between the lower three chakras, which deal with earthly issues, and the upper three chakras, which relate to spirituality. The heart chakra fosters meaningful connections with others and encourages self-acceptance and empathy. Throat Chakra (Vishuddha): Situated at the throat, this chakra is essential for communication, expression, and personal truth. It governs our ability to articulate thoughts and emotions clearly and authentically. When the throat chakra is balanced, we express ourselves with confidence and clarity, effectively conveying our ideas and needs. Third Eye Chakra (Ajna): Located between the eyebrows, the third eye chakra is often referred to as the center of intuition and insight. It connects us to our inner wisdom and the deeper layers of consciousness beyond the physical realm. The third eye chakra enhances our perception, clarity of thought, and understanding of ourselves and the universe.
